During keyhole surgery
While you are asleep, Dr Loy places two small magnets in your gut. They hold two sections gently together.

Over two to three weeks
Your body forms a new, shorter route for food between them. The magnets then pass naturally.

From then on
Part of what you eat takes the shorter route. You feel full sooner, hunger falls and your body absorbs less.
Dr Loy will talk you through every step at your assessment.

A patient coordinator calls you within one working day, answers your first questions and arranges your free assessment with Dr Loy, in Dublin or online. After the assessment you receive a written plan and one all-inclusive price. There is no obligation at any point.
No. That is what the assessment is for. Dr Loy looks at your health and your goals and recommends what fits you. Sometimes that is a different procedure, and sometimes it is no surgery at all.
No. Once the new connection has formed, the magnets pass through your digestive system still joined together, usually within two to three weeks of surgery and sometimes longer. Most people do not notice. An X-ray confirms they have gone.
MagDI™ has been in clinical use since 2021 and is authorised by the US FDA, Health Canada and CE marked in Europe. As with any surgery there are risks, including bleeding, infection, hernia and, rarely, the need for a further procedure. Long-term data beyond two years is still being collected. Dr Loy will go through the risks with you in full.
